“I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery” Thomas Jefferson.
After carefully observing and analysing the attitude and function of the South Sudan government, I concluded that Kiir and Bol are both Hunters and they’re thirsty for blood.Imagine that you are the driver and you and the passengers are aware that the car needs fuel so that you can reach the agreed destination. Is it fair for a driver to discriminate against a passenger for suggesting a quicker way to get to the closest fuel station? Or for seeing the fuel station first? Think about it. We agreed, including the international communities that the R-ARCSS is the only mechanism to transform the conflict in South Sudan, that Kiir will lead the nation (Car). We also agreed that the country needs peace (Fuel). We also agreed and understood how to get and carry the fuel (implement the security arrangement) to operate the car. We have now realised, including the peace partners, that what prevents South Sudan from achieving the desired reform is the attitude of the Hunters who by default occupy the driving seat of our nation, now driving our people through rough roads. How do Hunters operate? Hunters always operate under the function of fear - authoritarianism. Even when the Hunters stay in a concrete house or in a bush, they will always feel less secure. This assertion is reflective of Kiir and his cohorts plus Bol's corrupt nature and attitude – the dictatorial tendencies as displayed in the function of the institutions they created. While witnessing the stress of our people and the humanitarian crisis facing them – the Hunters without exception, continue to politicise their suffering and terrorize them in the villages and in those places of refuge. The exposed conduct of the Hunters indicate that peace is Not part of their being and that is why the Hunters endeavour to destroy our beloved country. Their tenure in office has exposed them to the region and the world that South Sudan will never experience peace under their administration. Twenty (20) years in captivity, our aspirations to create a free and sovereign State of South Sudan has been frustrated by the conduct of Hunters. It is also clear that those from a free society will never stop questioning the Hunters’ ideas and their corrupt attitudes. So, until when a leader who value humanity, those who from free society in South Sudan, those who would feel secure among us irrespective of language or culture differences, leaders who fear God truly occupy the driving seat of our beloved nation (families) and take charge of our future, a person who cares about our people’s security, ensuring the dignity of our people - that day our people will rejoice and prosper. Thereafter, we will reflect on how the sovereign people of South Sudan consistently questioned the psychology of the Hunters all along. In fact, the struggle of South Sudan (historical facts) teaches us that: Kuany Lual Thoan was the place where South Sudanese under Dr John Garang leadership officially declared war against the Arab – consequently after the SPLM/A shot down two SAF helicopters in December 1983. Kuany Lual Thoan was the place where the SPLM/A and Anyanya II met and reconciled their differences in 1988. Thereafter, many key areas that were occupied by Arab fell. Kuany Lual Thoan was the place where self-determination of South Sudan was officially declared by SSIM under the leadership of Dr Riek Machar. Kuany Lual Thoan was the place where the opposing movement to the Tyrant government of South Sudan was formed in 2014. Kuany Lual Thoan is the place where the civilians under the leadership of Mr Tor Gile Thoan defeated and dismantled the Hunter’s Garrison, sending a clear signal to the Hunters that the spirit of our people is still intact and that we are a free society. What is next? I suggest South Sudan must be liberated from the occupation of Hunters (Kiir and Bol). They are peace spoilers who have no agenda to bring peace in South Sudan. The action of the sovereign people, the Nasir civilians, should be echoed by other communities who are under the occupation of the Hunters in South Sudan and reject their orders. These Hunters, obviously, like war and killing of innocent people rather than to promote peace in South Sudan. They must be defeated and failure to do so will suggest nothing, other than a neglect by those responsible to ensure public order and protect the dignity of our people in South Sudan. When the Hunters and their cohorts are defeated, we will celebrate and chant with the song of Kuany Lual Thoan spiritual ... We are free at last! We are free at last!! We are free at last!!! We are free at last!!!! We are free at last!!!!! God will guide us in this endeavour to liberate our people from the captivity of Hunters The article was written and contributed by Peter Pal, a South Sudanese with wide knowledge on today's current affair in South Sudan
