The Gambella region has officially begun its cholera vaccination campaign:
This initiative aims to distribute vaccines to over 990 communities and was launched in the presence of Health Minister Dr. Mekdes Daba, along with other federal and regional officials.
During the launch, Minister Dr. Mekdes Daba announced that 16 temporary cholera treatment centres have been set up in areas affected by the outbreak. To ensure an effective response to the epidemic, various community engagement activities have been implemented, including the distribution of around 30 water tankers to regions facing water shortages.
Federal officials emphasized the importance of collective efforts to protect public health and mitigate the impact of the cholera outbreak. They urged everyone to contribute to the success of the prevention measures.

Omod, the head of the region, highlighted that collaboration with various stakeholders is essential in controlling the spread of the disease. Dr. Mesay Hailu, director of the Ethiopian Institute of Public Health, affirmed that the institute is prepared to address both national and international public health challenges.
Dr. Abel Asefa, head of the regional health bureau, reminded everyone of the extensive activities undertaken with various partners since the disease was first identified.
